Before you buy · Check the storefront

Storefront and account region

The App Store is the only place to get Shadowrocket. Shadowrocket is not available in the mainland China App Store. If you can't find it, first check the country or region associated with the Apple ID used for purchases instead of repeatedly changing your search terms. Your account's storefront determines which App Store you see. Your device's current location, system language, and the language of a web page do not, by themselves, indicate your account's storefront.

The button on this page opens the US storefront product page. Being able to view the product in a browser does not guarantee that your current account can purchase it. After opening the App Store, follow the prompts for the storefront associated with your account. If you see a message such as “Not available in your country or region,” check your account details first; storefront availability is not an app malfunction.

Check the account used for purchases

  1. Open Settings on your device and tap the Apple ID account section at the top.
  2. Tap Media & Purchases and check which account is signed in. It may differ from the account used for other services on your device.
  3. Tap View Account, complete any required authentication, then open Country/Region.
  4. Note the current region, return to the App Store, and confirm that the account details match the purchase account you just checked.

To find Apple's official region-change settings, go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region → Change Country or Region. Labels and navigation may vary slightly by system version; follow the options shown on your device. This path explains where to find the setting and does not guarantee that every account can change regions immediately.

Changing your region may involve your account balance, existing subscriptions, Family Sharing status, and a payment method accepted in the target region. Read the conditions shown on your account page and address any listed requirements before deciding whether to continue. Don't skip checking your existing purchase entitlements just to find an app. Changing regions may also affect which content is visible; whether you can redownload a purchased item depends on the storefront's current availability.

If Family Sharing purchase approval or device management restrictions apply, check the approval requirements shown by the system. Don't assume a purchase is complete just because the product page is visible in a browser; check the App Store confirmation and the account's purchase history. For more on storefront regions and restoring purchases, see the App Store purchase guide.

Before payment · Verify the app

Three checks to verify the official listing

On the product page, check the developer name, official icon, and app ID before buying. Search result names and rankings can help you find the listing, but they don't verify its identity. Similar names, spellings, or icons can be misleading. Open the product page and check all three details before proceeding.

Developer name
Shadow Launch Technology Limited. Check the developer or seller details on the product page and match the full name, not just the first few words.
Official icon
Look for the rocket icon with a white background and blue-purple outline, matching the official icon in this site's header. The icon is only one of the three checks; verify the developer and app ID as well.
App ID
932747118. The product page URL ends in id932747118. This number identifies the app; it is neither a version number nor a purchase order number.

If search results show apps with similar names, compare the developer first, then check the number in the product link. If the icon and name look similar but the app ID differs, it's not the product covered by this guide. If the developer information doesn't match, don't follow Shadowrocket purchase instructions. Don't rely on words such as “proxy” or “rules” in the description to verify an app's identity.

Before purchasing, review the App Store page's compatibility information and price. A matching app identity doesn't mean your device meets the requirements; refer to the App Store page for compatibility. The app name, amount, and currency shown on the purchase confirmation should match the product information you just checked. If anything looks wrong, cancel and verify the details again.

Updates after installation are also delivered through the App Store. Check for available updates on your App Store account page, or enable automatic app updates in your device settings. The store's release notes are the source for current feature changes; this guide does not substitute a fixed version number for live App Store information. Verifying the app and checking for updates are separate tasks. The app ID does not change with updates.

Device guide · iPhone

Get Shadowrocket and open it for the first time on iPhone

Open the App Store product page from this site on your iPhone. After verifying the three details, check whether the page shows a price, a redownload button, or Open. A price usually means the current purchase account does not show an entitlement. A redownload button means you can check for an existing purchase. Open means the app is already on your device. If the status isn't what you expected, check the account before paying again.

Refer to the App Store page for system requirements. Check the Compatibility section on the product page to see whether your device is supported. Don't assume your device is compatible just because the app works on another one. Before purchasing, also check available storage and your network connection so you can distinguish insufficient space, an incomplete payment, and a network interruption.

  1. With the correct purchase account signed in, verify the App Store listing and complete the purchase using the price and steps shown by the App Store.
  2. Wait for the app to finish downloading, then open Shadowrocket from your Home Screen or tap Open in the App Store.
  3. Prepare your own subscription or server details. Subscriptions come from your service provider; import them by following the usage guide.
  4. The first time you start a connection, read the system prompt about adding a VPN configuration. Confirm that Shadowrocket initiated the request, then grant authorization as prompted.

Adding a VPN configuration is a system authorization step required to manage connections. It is not a purchase of a new service and does not indicate whether a subscription is valid. If you're not ready to connect, you can first review Home, Config, and Settings, then continue once you have the required information. Don't assume a purchase or installation failed just because the connection switch is off before you've imported valid details.

If you tapped Cancel during the first authorization prompt, return to the app, confirm the configuration source, and start the connection again. A device with management restrictions may not be allowed to add the required configuration; check its management status first. Installation, system authorization, subscription import, and connection testing are related but separate steps. Work through them one at a time to pinpoint the issue. For import and verification steps, see the Shadowrocket usage guide.

Device guide · iPad

Redownload purchases and understand the iPad layout

Shadowrocket works on both iPhone and iPad. If you already purchased it with your Apple ID, sign in to the App Store on your iPad with the same purchase account and redownload it from Purchased. You don't need to buy it again when switching between these devices. Check the account under Media & Purchases; using the same account for other services on both devices does not confirm that the purchase accounts match.

Open the App Store on your iPad, go to your account's Purchased items, search for Shadowrocket, verify the developer, and redownload the app. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements. If a price still appears, check your account and purchase history. Confirm which account made the purchase and whether the transaction completed; don't assume that a displayed price means you must buy it again.

The iPad's larger display and landscape or portrait orientation may change the position of lists, details, and navigation. Use the English interface labels—Home, Add Server, Config, and Settings—to find the right controls rather than relying on their positions relative to the iPhone screen. A feature may appear in a different layout on another screen size, but that doesn't change what subscription or configuration details mean.

A universal purchase covers the app entitlement; it doesn't automatically set up server lists, subscriptions, rules, or connection settings on another device. When you first open the app on iPad, review the existing content, then import your own subscription or server details as needed. If you restored a configuration from your own backup, check the selected item and Global Routing rather than assuming the old settings are still current.

Compatibility with other Apple devices

The Compatibility section on the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Whether the purchase is universal, which devices are compatible, and which system versions are required are determined by the App Store page. Don't infer the requirements for other devices from the iPhone and iPad purchase instructions. These devices are also available only through the App Store; check the product page and its compatibility details on your target device before purchasing. The first-launch and authorization steps in this guide focus on iPhone and iPad.

After switching devices · Restore your purchase

Switch devices and restore purchased items

After switching devices or reinstalling the app, look up the original purchase instead of starting a new payment from a search result. Sign in with the Apple ID used for the purchase. If the app is still available to redownload and your new device meets the requirements, get it again from App Store Purchased at no extra charge. The purchase entitlement is tied to the account that completed the transaction, not the old device's name or its previous connection status.

  1. On the new device, go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases and confirm you're using the original purchase account.
  2. Open the App Store, go to your account, then open Purchased. On some system versions, this option may appear under Apps.
  3. Search for Shadowrocket, verify the app, tap the redownload button, and wait for the download to finish.
  4. After opening the app for the first time, check the existing configuration. Import your own subscription or server details as needed, then complete system authorization and test the connection.

If Shadowrocket isn't in Purchased, check whether you used a different purchase account, whether the app is hidden, and whether the account's purchase history shows a completed transaction. If the page shows a price, check these items first. The fact that the app was once on a device does not, by itself, prove that the current account owns it; check the original purchase account's history.

If the purchase appears in your history but you still can't redownload the app, note the App Store error message and check your current storefront region and device compatibility. A region change can affect which content is visible, and redownloading may not be immediately available in every storefront. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements. For payment or account issues, use the help options on your App Store account page.

If your old device is still available, make sure you can retrieve the subscriptions and configurations you need before organizing its data. Being able to redownload the app does not guarantee that all local settings can be restored. Configurations may contain personal connection details. When backing up or transferring them, use storage you control and avoid sharing full links in public discussions or screenshots.

Check Family Sharing eligibility

Whether Family Sharing applies to your purchase depends on the conditions shown on the App Store page and in your account. Check the product page for details, then confirm the status in your Family Sharing purchase settings. If eligible, look under a family member's Purchased items. Family Sharing is a different process from restoring your own purchase on a new device; don't assume it applies to every family member, region, or device.

Payment scope · App entitlement

Pricing and one-time purchase

Shadowrocket is a paid commercial app sold as a one-time purchase, with no monthly charge for the app itself. The US reference price is $2.99; other storefronts show prices in local currencies. The actual amount, currency, and transaction terms are shown on the App Store page and payment confirmation. The USD price here illustrates the purchase model and should not be treated as the price in other storefronts.

A one-time app purchase does not include a service plan. Buying the app gives you the right to use the client; it does not create server details or include a subscription service. This is the official Shadowrocket website and guide. It does not provide or sell nodes or subscriptions. To use the app, you need your own subscription or server details; subscriptions come from your service provider.

Check the App Store purchase status and subscription connectivity separately. For the purchase, check the account's purchase history, app download status, and device compatibility. For a subscription, check the imported details, validity period, selected server, and configuration. A subscription update failure does not mean you need to buy the app again, and an installed app does not mean your connection details are valid.

Likewise, a one-time purchase does not cover every cost related to connecting. Check your own service details for subscription terms, validity, and changes. The app's App Store price and those service details are separate. This guide covers importing, configuration, and troubleshooting; it does not evaluate or recommend service providers.

View your purchase history in your App Store account and get app updates through the App Store. Don't treat the reference price on this page as proof of purchase, or assume the purchase account based only on the app icon on an old device. If you think you've been charged twice, check the original transaction and current account first. For steps after importing, see the usage guide; for interface terms, see the glossary.

Common download questions

Can't find Shadowrocket in the App Store? What to check first

First, check the country or region for the Apple ID used under Media & Purchases. Shadowrocket is not available in the mainland China App Store. Your device language or physical location does not determine your account's storefront. Go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region, then open the App Store product page on this site.

The App Store page opens, but the app won't download. What should I check?

Note the exact App Store message, then check your purchase account, payment method, available storage, network connection, and the compatibility section. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements. If you were charged but installation did not finish, check your purchase history and Purchased items before attempting another payment.

Do I have to pay for Shadowrocket again after getting a new device?

Sign in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase. If the app is still available to download and your device meets the requirements, get it again from App Store → Account → Purchased at no extra charge. If a price appears, check the purchase account and history first. Restoring the purchase does not restore your configuration; you'll need to import your own subscription or server details on the new device.

Can I install my purchased copy of Shadowrocket on an iPad?

Yes. Shadowrocket works on both iPhone and iPad. Sign in to the App Store on your iPad with the Apple ID used for the purchase, then get it again from Purchased. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements. The larger screen and landscape layout may look different. Check your subscription and Config separately; a shared purchase does not automatically sync configurations.

How do I check compatibility with Mac, Apple TV, or Apple Vision?

Check the Compatibility section on the same App Store product page, which lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Availability as a universal purchase, device compatibility, and system requirements are determined by the App Store page. Get the app through the App Store.

The interface is in English after installation. Where should I start?

Start with the usage guide in this manual. Home shows and lets you select connection items; Add Server adds existing details; Config manages configurations; Settings manages preferences; and Data shows statistics. Use the English interface labels to follow the steps. Subscriptions come from your service provider. After importing, check Global Routing and grant connection authorization.

For other issues, browse the FAQ by topic. Note the step where the problem occurred and the system message so you can distinguish account, installation, and connection issues.
